Thiruvananthapuram: High drama unfolded in Kerala’s capital on Wednesday after Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials faced violent protests while leaving the residence of senior CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan following a raid.

According to visuals circulating on television and social media, a large crowd of protesters gathered outside Vijayan’s rented residence soon after the ED team completed its operation. The protest quickly turned aggressive as some demonstrators allegedly blocked the officials’ vehicle and hurled stones at it.

The incident created chaos in the area, with police and central security forces struggling to control the crowd. The windshield of the vehicle was reportedly shattered during the attack, while women officers present inside the car were also caught in the tense situation.

The protest has intensified the political atmosphere in Kerala, with CPI(M) leaders accusing the BJP-led Centre of misusing central agencies for political purposes. Party leaders also alleged a “Congress-BJP nexus” behind the ED action, further escalating the war of words between political rivals.

The Enforcement Directorate has not yet released an official statement regarding the violence or the details of the raid. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked a fresh political storm in the state, raising concerns over the growing confrontation between opposition parties and central investigative agencies.

As visuals of the vandalised vehicle continue to dominate headlines, the episode is expected to trigger sharp political reactions in the coming days.
