A fresh political storm erupted in West Bengal after Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the ruling party at the Centre would soon be “removed from power in Delhi.”

Speaking during a meeting of TMC MLAs at her residence in Kolkata, Mamata accused the newly formed BJP government in West Bengal of targeting minority communities and roadside hawkers. She alleged that demolition drives and actions against street vendors were part of a larger political agenda aimed at creating fear among ordinary people.

“The government is tampering with constitutional values,” Mamata said, while also criticizing what she described as the growing “bulldozer culture” in the state. Her remarks come amid rising tensions between the BJP and TMC following recent political developments and administrative actions in Bengal.

The meeting also saw an aggressive response from TMC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, who recently received a demolition notice over alleged unauthorized construction at his South Kolkata residence. Refusing to back down, Abhishek declared that he would continue his political fight against the BJP regardless of pressure or intimidation.

“Do whatever you want, demolish my house if you wish, but I will not bow down,” Abhishek reportedly said during the meeting, turning the controversy into a political counterattack against the BJP.

Adding more fuel to the political fire, Abhishek also targeted current Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, referring to the controversial Narada sting operation and questioning the BJP’s decision to elevate him to the top post despite past allegations.

The TMC has now announced statewide protests against what it calls “forceful evictions” and “bulldozer politics,” with demonstrations planned across key locations in and around Kolkata. The protests are expected to intensify the already heated political atmosphere in the state.

With sharp accusations, emotional speeches, and open political challenges, West Bengal’s political battlefield appears to be entering yet another intense phase — one that could have major implications for both state and national politics in the months ahead.
